Ratio Resolution

Walt: Solve Ratio Problems

Task Description:
This week we had to solve another set of ratio problems. Only this time it was super easy!

Puaki Synthesising Information

My new understanding of the Tā Moko is “Ta Moko” means tattoo art in Maori. Often these tattoos covered the whole face and were a symbol of rank, social status, power and prestige for the Maori people. Ta Moko is a visual language which connects the person who has it to his “whakapapa”.

Task Description: For this task I had to read a book about people and what the Moko meant to them as Maori's. After I read the book, I had to write some facts down or things they said that interested me in the book. After everything was finished we had to write a new understanding about Moko's and what they meant.

Don’t Let Go!

Write a story using the picture above as inspiration. Is this the beginning of the story or the end? Where is the carriage going and why? Who is the girl and how did she get there? What’s the deal with the duck and lizard? Where do those stairs go behind them?

Be creative….is it real life or fantasy? Sad or funny? Scary or possibly true?

BEGIN WRITING HERE:
In the night in a dark valley walk home from her work. Andy was feeling stressed out because every night Andy always had to do the chores when Andy came back from somewhere, meanwhile, the family would always be on their phones or get dressed for something fancy.

“Man, I wish I could do everything they do.” thinking what's in her mind.

The brother and sister would always treat her like she's a servant and like a little girl. Andy had no friends anywhere. After Andy got back home she checked the mailbox and in that mailbox was a letter from the Grand Palace,

and letter said “ Dear Glassglow family, I as King of the Grand Palace, I king Richard Paschal invite your whole family to a grand feast with hundreds of people some please be well dress. I would like to ask one of your family members to please say some words at the Grand Feast.

Kind Regards

King Richard Paschal”

Everyone got so excited that they got invited but Andy, Andy knew she wasn’t going to the Grand Feast. Andy was right, she was told to get everyone's dresses ready.
Part 2 Coming Soon

Sorry It Isn't Finish But I Hope That It I Finish It Soon For Part 2

Multiplication Magic

Multiplication Magic
We are learning to use place value to solve multiplication problems using whole numbers.

Times table practice:

5 x 5 = 25  7x7=49

4 x 4= 16  8 x 8=64

3 x 3 =9  11x 11=121

6 x 6= 36  5 x 4= 20

9 x 9 = 81 10 x 10=100

Factors of 16 = 1,2,4,8,16

Multiples of 8 = 1,2,4,8,16,24,32,40,48,56,64,72,78,80

A prime number is

25 x 25 = 625

20 x 25 = 500

5 x 25 = 125

25 x 245 =6125

200 x 25 =5000

40 x 25 =1000

5 x 25 =125

267 x 250 =66.750

200 x 267 =53. t400

50 x 267 =13.350

Show your working under each problem:

1. Mrs Flavelle orders 15 boxes of cookies for camp. If each box contains 18 cookies. How many are there altogether?15x18=270

2. Mrs Tele’a orders 12 cans of beans for camp. Each tin contains 240 beans. How many individual beans has she ordered?12x240=2880

3. Room 4 are baking a rectangular cake for the garage sale. It is 22cm long and 16cm wide. What is the area of the cake?22cm x 16cm = 352cm

4. Marika has brought some lollies in to share with the class for her birthday. She has brought 14 packets which contain 32 lollies each. How many lollies are there altogether? 448

5. If each of the 160 students in team five paid 135 dollars for camp, how much money would the camp make from our visit? 160x135=21600

It had been three days since it had gone missing. One minute he had held it in his hand, the next it had vanished. How could it just have disappeared? It had been right in front of his eyes!
He had been warned about what would happen if he lost it. His mission had been to guard the key with his life, ever since they visited him last summer.
Adam had always had a detective’s instinct. They had told him as much. He had been chosen because he had certain skills, and he would need them more than ever now.
Only one clue had seemingly been left, which was sat on the living room table.
Holding the magnifying glass up to his eye, Adam began to investigate…

Adam’s eyes were at his highest peak but that peak wasn’t good enough to look for the key which he was meant to guard. Adam was trying his hardest and with his smart detective’s skill he remembered that Adam had taken photos of the key,

“May I please have the camera” sounding like a detective,

His father repiling “Why do you what the camera?”

Adam saying again in a detective voice “Because I need to look at some photos,”

His father said “Fine fine, but only because you need some help.”

So Adam was looking through the photo he had taken, Adam found the picture he was looking for. But there was something different about this picture, the picture Adam was looking at the key had also vanished too. Adam was determined to still look for the vanished key.

Adam was determined to look for the vanished key. Adam  looked through books, under and over stuff, Adam still can’t find the vanished key.

Serious Subtraction 1

Walt:Use our knowledge of place value to solve subtraction problems
Serious Subtraction
We are learning to solve subtraction problems using whole and decimal numbers.

Times Table Practice:

3 x 3 = 9      5 x 5 =25 8 x 7 = 56    12 x 10 =120 4 x 6 = 24 5 x 7 =35    2 x 4 =8 3 x 8 = 24 9 x 8 =72 4 x 7 =36  9 x 7 = 63

345 + 385 = 730

847 + 126 = 973

674 + 586 = 1260

Your sister gives you $125 to spend on lollies. If you spend $65 how much money would you have left over?
120-60=80/80-10=70

She then gives you $234 more. How much money do you have now?
70+234=304

Pt England school are buying new sports gear. There is $500 in the sports budget.
They first purchase a basketball hoop for $50. How much money does he have left?
50-500=450

They then buy a net for $25.  How much do they have left?
450-25=425

Then they buy three tennis balls. Each ball costs $3. How much do they have left?
3x3=9
425-9=416

Finally they buy a netball hoop which costs $100.  How much is left in the budget at the end?
416-100=316

Troy has $100 in his wallet. He spends $65.50 on a new PS4 game. How much money does he have left?
100-60=40
40-5.50=34.5

Factors and Multiples

WALT: I am learning to identify factors and multiples

I had to find the factors of a range of numbers.

12 = 3, 6, 12, 1, 2, 4

24 = 12, 6, 3, 2, 8, 1,

36 =3,2,1,6,36,

50 = 10, 5, 50, 1, 25, 2

45 = 5, 1, 45,

20 = 20, 10, 1, 2, 5, 4,

75 = 5, 75, 1,

100 =10, 5, 2, 1, 100,

150 = 150, 50, 20, 5, 2,

Then I listed the multiples of the following numbers, I went up to 10x

5 = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50

6 = 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60

7 = 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70

8 = 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80

3 = 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30

15 = 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135, 150

The lowest common multiple (LCM) of 2 or more numbers is the smallest number that is a multiple of each of them. E.g. the lowest common multiple of 3 and 2 is 6. (they both also go into 30, but 6 is the smallest number they both go into).

I found the LCM of:

6 and 4 = 12

7 and 8 = 56

9 and 12 = 12

The highest common factor (HCF) is the highest number that can be divided exactly into each of two or more numbers.

For example, the common factors of 24 and 36 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12. So the highest common factor (H.C.F) of 24 and 36 = 12

I found he HCF of:

30 and 25 =5

14 and 21 = 7

56 and 49 =  7

12 and 24 = 12

Adorable Addition

Adorable Addition

We are learning to use place value to solve addition problems using whole numbers and numbers to 2dp.

Multiple and factors practice

Multiples of 6 to 10 = 5,

Multiples of 7 to 10 =

Factors of 28 = 1, 2, 4, 7, 14, 28

Factors of 45 = 1, 5, 45

Factors of 14 and 28 = 1, 2, 7, 14, 28

1. Kalani has $2.50. He is then given $0.80. How much more money does he have altogether? $2.50 + .80= $3.30

2. A swimmer is in a 100 meter race. She swims the first half of the race in 32.34 seconds -

and the last half of the race in 34.83 seconds. How long did it take her to swim the whole race? 32.34 + 34.83 = 67.17 sec

3. Pauline buys an apple for $0.90 and pays with a $5.00 note. How much change will she get? $5.00 - $0.90= 4.10

4. Oali’i walks 0.7km to school and Jane walks 0.5kms to school. How much farther does Oali’i walk than Jane?

0.7km - 0.5km = 0.2km

5. One pencil weighs 28.3 grams. How much do 5 pencils weigh?

28.3 x 5 = 141.5 grams

Show your working as you solve these problems:

1235 + 5643 = 6878

54. 56 + 45.56 = 100.12

65.45 + 41.44 = 106.89

23.67 + 75.52=99.19
